Micellar water – the make-up removal phenomenon

Mizellenwasser – Das Abschmink-Phänomen

Micellar water can now be found in every drugstore from various suppliers. I personally swear by it because I can remove make-up, cleanse and care for my entire face in one go with just one product. But let's be honest: you've already asked yourself what micelles actually are, right? I do, so I did some research.

Micelles are microscopic particles consisting of special surfactants with a fat-soluble core and a water-soluble shell. And that's the whole trick, because this means they are able to remove both water-soluble and fat-soluble residues of makeup and dirt from your skin. In just one step, make-up, including eye make-up, can be removed and the skin can be cleansed deep into the pores.

The great thing about micellar water is that it is suitable for all skin types. Sensitive skin is happy about the fact that there is no pressure to be exerted during cleansing and no need to rub the skin for hours. The fact that, unlike other cleansing products, it does not contain any oils and therefore does not leave a greasy film on the skin is particularly beneficial for skin that is already rich in oil. And since micellar water is now offered by various cosmetic brands for different skin types, nothing stands in the way of gentle yet thorough cleansing.
